Wii Wii It’s Easy to Purchase Travel Insurance

Nintendo's Wii™ first hit markets in December 2006 and is the fifth home video game console released by Nintendo.

One of it’s latest features is an Internet Channel that allows internet browsing. It is operated by a wireless remote that you point at a screen version of a keyboard or a Cell Phone-Styled Keyboard using the predicted word feature to type in the web browser. It builds on the idea that if you see something advertised on TV you don’t have to leave the room to search the internet for further information.

According to the Wii™ website (http://wii.nintendo.com/) "the console communicates wirelessly with the Internet via wireless or a Wii LAN adaptor." and "With the Internet Channel, you can surf the web on your TV, in the comfort of your own home."

So it was a little surprising that an online travel insurance site posted a press release on just about every news, blog and open forum site announcing that it is processing travel insurance transactions using Nintendo's Wii™ console.

So is this just a mere grab at linking their product/service to Nintendo's Wii™ ?

Yes.

Is it effective?

Probably.

Have we just done the same?
